Amazon Sucks!

OK, not normally -- I actually really like Amazon, but this time they pissed me off. I placed my Newport News order with them because it is easy, I have an account and don't have to type anything in. However, when I checked my email last night I found out they canceled my order. No reason as to why, just an email saying it had been canceled. So I had to go reorder my stuff at the Newport News site, which will delay the arrival of my boots which I had expected to arrive any day now.

Mind you, it isn't like I need my boots right away. So far it is too warm to even consider wearing them, but when you order something you look forward to the arrival.

Less than a week away!

Yep, next Thursday the wanna be beauty queen takes center stage.

Just because she is a woman does not mean that I can't speak the truth -- she is a slap in the face to every qualified woman that John McCain could have chosen as his running mate.

Probably most of us have seen her interviews. I have seen a more intelligent grasp of world issues from any and every woman I know. Still, one has to know that she is in some room somewhere with a bunch of "instructors" trying to teach her to sound intelligent for the debate. Will they succeed in keeping her from totally embarrassing herself, the Republican party and all women everywhere? I have my doubts.

Any bets on what Mrs. Palin will wear next Thursday? I am pretty sure her hair will be up in that weird hairdo (if there is a name for it I don't know it), she will be wearing a suit, but a skirt suit -- not pants. Any guesses on color? I will guess grey, but it also could be black, a dark blue or brown.

Really it is Joe Biden who has the hard job next Thursday. I am sure he could destroy her easily, but then he would be considered mean. Things like that make clear that men and women are not considered equal. If he destroyed a man in a debate it would be perfectly OK, but not a woman because I guess that would hurt her feelings and might make her cry or something. Nothing pisses me off more than so-called feminists who think every legitimate strike at Sarah Palin is sexist. It isn't because she is a woman, it is because she is unqualified -- wake up!

Boots Again

So after saying publicly that I don't like or buy plastic shoes, I am forced to eat my words. My new Newport News catalog came today and I just couldn't resist those shiny black patent leather boots with gold buttons and heel trim and I just ordered them via Amazon.

Tabitha's Salon Make Over, and Rambling About My Hair

I'm not a fan of "reality" shows, in fact, I find them pretty dismal. I do like Project Runway and SuperNanny. And, Tabitha's Salon Make Over on Bravo. I'm not a big hair person; so much, so why I'm fascinated I don't know. But I like her. It's depressing to know there are business owners out there with salons who clearly have their heads in the wrong place. Amazing. One thing that gets me is customer service, or lack of it. Customer walks in, and she's completely ignored, while the person at the desk yaks on the phone, doesn't even acknowledge the person standing there. . . that is a big peeve of mine, whether it's a store or office or what. If you're busy, fine, say so! But don't ignore me! Okay, I feel a rant coming on so I'll stop.

Tabitha isn't a "bitch" she's direct. I wish more people were like that. Clear, direct. If you're trying to be very good at a particular thing, a specific skill, you need to be able to take criticism. Do you want to learn something, or do you want to play tea party? Sheesh. So far, in the episodes I've seen, no matter how obnoxious, inept or stubborn the salon owners are in the beginning, they really turn around by the end, and that's positive.

It's scary going into a hair place; you really take a risk every time. Right now I'm letting my hair grow out; what I'll do with it after that I don't know. I've never known. I just see what happens, lol. As far as color goes, I've been coloring my hair since I was fifteen, so that's forty years. Last time I colored my hair, (same brand I always use, Natural Instincts) it burned my scalp, and some fell out!!!!! Fortunately, it's not so noticeable and it's coming back. But good great goddess! So I haven't colored it since the spring, and I'm getting to know my hair again. Hello, hair! I have some blond highlights going on in there I never knew I had.

One more thing, I found the image shown here on Vintage Hair Archives.

Refreshing your face

I just did a clay mask a few minutes ago. It felt great! Besides which it tightens the skin and detoxifies leaving your face looking and feeling fantastic! Why don't I do this more often I asked myself? I couldn't really come up with an answer and decided from now on I will try to remember to do it once a week.

This is my special little added trick -- I use French pink clay (sometimes called French red clay), but you can also use french green clay or any type of clay powder that you like. What I do is add a little bit of Vitamin C powder for extra antioxidants.

I also often add vitamin C powder to my regular face cream too. Just scoop out the amount of cream you are going to use, add the powder and mix. It is far cheaper than the expensive vitamin C antioxidant moisturizers and the exact same thing. A bottle of Vitamin C powder literally lasts for years even if you mix it with cream every day and you can turn all your favorite creams into antioxidant creams!

Fall Shopping Obsession

Oh sure, I love checking out the new Fall clothes. I love cozy sweaters and new jeans, but my number 1 Fall shopping obsession is BOOTS!

OMG! I love boots!

I wear boots all through Fall and Winter. I have just about any style or color that you could imagine.

A man would never understand the need for all those boots, but there is a need, at least somewhat. There are different categories along with subcategories for boots and shoes in general.

First there are the every day boots. Last year I switched mostly between two pairs, the Uggs at the top of this post and my Sugar boots below.

I also have special boots that I would wear out somewhere special, but not anywhere that I knew I was going to have to do much walking. Like these --

Then there are the nice boots that I can wear out somewhere special that I might have to do some walking in. Those are normally knee high leather boots (flats, of course) and I always like ones that have some sort of decoration like buckles, buttons or even rhinestones.

Then there are other categories like snow boots, rain boots and so on. I even have "dress" snow boots. :-)

I also have a pair of hand tooled leather cowboy boots, with 2 inch heels that I have had at least 5 years and never worn. They are beautiful boots and I couldn't resist the price, they were marked down from $250 to around $80, but they are totally uncomfortable even for just sitting. Yet, I can't bear to get rid of them.

Yes, I know what PETA people think about leather shoes and yet as long as people continue to eat meat (including myself) I refuse to stop wearing leather. I HATE plastic shoes. They do not conform to your feet or stretch like leather and they make your feet smell horrible. I know that maybe that is a contradiction given my love of animals, but so be it.

Super Girlie Stuff

Smashing Katie was created when Angie and her husband split up due to his affair with her friend Katie.

Bless Angie who took that painful experience and decided to get revenge and earn a profit at the same time!

Many items at Smashing Katie are break up related, like voodoo dolls, the after break-up wheel of wisdom and the wedding ring coffin. Aside from those there are other just plain girlie items -- lots of them that I want! There was soooooooo much great stuff that I had a hard time picking just a few favorites to post here.
