Red Dress, Yes! Men Want to Bed Dames Who Wear Red

Audrey Hepburn in a red dress from Breakfast at Tiffany's.
(I found the image on a great site dedicated to the actress; it's called Princess Monkey, great name!)

So wear it! The red dress has a reputation for being, well, what it is, for a reason. You floozy you.

According to this article in Every day Science, women who wear red attract the men. I'm really Rosie: Men more amorous towards ladies in red
Men were more eager to bed women wearing red than those decked out in other colors, according to five studies involving 149 men and 32 women published today in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. The men also judged those women as more attractive than those sans red duds.

"I'm not going to let my 16-year-old daughter wear red, let's put it that way," says study author Andrew Elliot, a professor of psychology at the University of Rochester. "I do think a female who's interested in a male and going on a date ought to pull that red shirt out of the closet, because most likely it will make her more attractive to him.
"

I think black is pretty sexy too for both men and women, maybe more me, I'm just guessing. Don't know if any study has been done, though wouldn't be surprised. But I agree, red is a sexy and good color!

Here's a poem by writer and poet Dorothy Parker.

The Red Dress

I always saw, I always said
If I were grown and free,
I'd have a gown of reddest red
As fine as you could see,

To wear out walking, sleek and slow,
Upon a Summer day,
And there'd be one to see me so
And flip the world away.

And he would be a gallant one,
With stars behind his eyes,
And hair like metal in the sun,
And lips too warm for lies.

I always saw us, gay and good,
High honored in the town.
Now I am grown to womanhood....
I have the silly gown.

Sarah Palin's $150,000 shopping spree

Yep, since Sept she has spent a whopping $150,000 on clothes, hair and make-up.

Now I do realize that she is running for VP and therefore should look good. In most cases, this wouldn't really bother me. After all, it is the Republican party's money to spend and if they want to spend it on that why should I care? After all, it may have saved citizens from having to hear more robo calls, which seems to be the other thing they enjoy spending money on.

No it isn't the money, it is the hypocrisy. You can't claim to be a Joe Six-Pack and then spend more money on clothes in a month than a true Joe Six-Pack would make in a year. You can't call other people "elitist" if you are going to do that. As Keith Olbermann said in his special comment today -- these are the people that were comparing Obama to Paris Hilton?

Hell, I don't even really blame Sarah Palin. If someone were to let me go on a shopping spree like that I would probably go for it too. However, someone in the campaign should have realized that was probably not a good idea and probably would look hypocritical. I am not really complaining since I support Obama, but what kind of fools are running the McCain campaign?

The Rainforest Site

Here's something you can do for yourself, fashion and endangered species and land. I have the Animal Rescue site as my home page; if you click on the above image, it will take you to the Rainforest Site, which links from the Animal Rescue site as well. There's also a literacy site, hunger, and some others, all in one place.

They offer all kinds of neat things, including clothing, jewelry and accesories that help these causes. So visit these sites, surf their clothing, etc. items, and link to them on your blogs and websites!

Now, This IS Sexist

Ever since Sarah Palin has been in the news as the VP choice for McCain, a lot has been said about "sexism." Like any criticism of Palin is sexist; which of course is bull. When Ralph Nader got on Bill Maher's case the other week for being "sexist" towards Palin, because Maher mocked and questioned Palin. I was surprised at Nader's nonsense; in fact, it was Nader who was being sexist, not Maher, by expecting Palin to be removed from criticism. What, she's too delicate?

Anyway, I am NO fan of Palin's in any way. Not in any way. At. All.

But the recent so-called "controversy" about her wrinkles is sexist. Can you imagine this kind of time wasting non-issue given more than a nano second if it were a male?

'What Will She Do With It?'

This image appeared on the cover to the August 7th, 1920 issue of Leslie's Illustrated Weekly Newspaper, just a few days prior to the ratification of Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, allowing women the right to vote.

The caption on the cover asks
"What Will She Do With It?", looking ahead to the presidential election coming that November, the first in which women in every state could exercise that right.

Adam Gorightly sent me that link earlier. I am ever the fan of Leslie's newspaper even though they spell Lesley wrong. I especially liked this one because it had to do with the first election in which women were allowed to vote and the caption says "What will she do with it?" What does that even mean? It isn't like women could elect Satan, he wasn't even on the ballot. Although, I suppose there was still the risk that they would do something stupid or evil, like not vote for who their husbands told them to.

Girlie Tee Sale

One of my favorite internet tee shirt shops, Threadless, is having a sale. All their girlie tees are only $12.

These are the ones I ordered --

There was one other that I really liked what it said, but I didn't like that there was no artwork on it and so I didn't order it --

Mom Has a Blog! Thoughts on Palin

My mom, eighty years old, has a blog. It's pretty limited, since it's on Web TV, and it only gives her a page, which means she has to delete her entries every couple of weeks or so. I've set up a blog for her on blogspot but she hasn't responded; sigh, you know moms. Still, very good for her! Mom's still got it, and she isn't too pleased with Palin, McPalin, Bush, etc. at all. Her latest two cents on Sarah Palin:
"fresh", " down to earth"," Washington Outsider"......allthe winks, " you betchas" and folksiness don't add up to a hill of beans.....didn't we just have eight years of the same from the S___ Kicker from Texas?

I love it. For a bit more you can visit my blog Alice Surreal; look on the menu on the right under "Mom Has a Blog" for more entries and link to her blog.

Vintage Album Covers For the Housewife

Sarah Palin would be proud. Well, maybe not. On the other hand, she does have a lot of children. Anyway, here are a few vintage album covers for the housewife who wants to keep her husband happy:

But if all that exercising in tight leotards and belly dancing doesn't do it for hubby, you can always light up, lie back, and conjure up this guy:

Finally the truth of why conservative men like Palin

They are very lonely and the mere sight of her winking on TV gives them an erection. And I am the sexist one for not liking her?

Projecting through the Screen [Rich Lowry]

A very wise TV executive once told me that the key to TV is projecting through the screen. It's one of the keys to the success of, say, a Bill O'Reilly, who comes through the screen and grabs you by the throat. Palin too projects through the screen like crazy. I'm sure I'm not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, "Hey, I think she just winked at me." And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America. This is a quality that can't be learned; it's either something you have or you don't, and man, she's got it.

Cross your fingers (and toes too)

OK, so tonight is the big debate. Let's all (us gurls) cross our fingers and pray that nobody think Sarah Palin is representative of all women.
