On Ghost Hunting Theories: Sexy Steampunk and Costume Fashions

The Ghost Hunting Theories blog has a neat post with photos of steampunk type fashion: Sexy Steampunk and Costume Fashions. I love steampunk; the fashions, the machines, -- something sexy about it to me.( I'd love to see Helen Mirren in a steampunk movie; something for the sexy older woman. I think she'd carry that off very well.) I particularly like these shoes Ghost Hunting Theories posted, but I know I couldn't wear those heels!

Girls' Shape Ups X F - Mary Jane - SKECHERS Official Site

Skechers is now targeting preschoolers and grade school girls with their shape up type shoes. Messaage: you're never too young to start obsessing about your body or feeling like a huge bag of dung for not having the right body image. They're $50.00 which is not even in the equation for a lot of families; these days, or, ever...

The ugliest shoes, well, ever on Shine

A lot of these I don't find that ugly.  Love Uggs!  I especially like those black UGG looking boots with the silver stars.  However, the hoof ones in the photo have to be among the ugliest ever!  Unless you are dressing as a goat for Halloween.

Monkey Slippers!

Found at Target for $13.  I thought they were a bit pricey, but I practically live in slippers like that in the winter (we have mostly tile floors) and they are so cute!

More Shoes and Stuff

I know it is easy to think that I love shoes and mostly I do, but not in the summer.  I live it NM, it is hot here and in the summer I can’t stand to have my feet confined in a shoe, any type of enclosed shoe (or socks) makes me miserable.  So that is why when I bought new hiking shoes Tuesday, they were Teva sandals.  Oh yes, I know the problem with sandals, little rocks can get under your feet and it is easier for creatures like ants to get to you and bite you -- I am willing to put up with that.  I haven’t had any Teva shoes for a while, but they do have great soles for hiking, especially compared to what I had been wearing which were burkies and betulas. :-)

Actually, I noticed yesterday when we took a short hike that the soles slip less than my New Balance athletic shoes.  I only had one very minor slip, unlike most days.  Slips where I don’t fall on my ass wouldn’t be so bad except they almost always cause me to twist which throws my back out of whack.

Just so you know that I don't only buy shoes, check out these great notebooks I got at borders for 75% off:

New Shoes

Last week Fashion Bug sent me a coupon for $10 off any purchase of $10 or more.  I haven't shopped there in a long time because the last several times I was there I didn't see anything that appealed to me.  That was why they sent to coupon and the letter said they had changed and now have more of the fashions women want.  Wednesday I had to be in that area anyhow, so I dropped in.  No, they didn't have more of the fashions I want.  For some reason it seemed like way too much stuff in the store had patterns consisting of huge flowers in bright shades.  Those types of patterns on clothing always remind me of certain ladies in my neighborhood where I grew up that wore moo-moos, almost always with huge bright flowers all over them.  Anyhow, those weren't for me and I was kind of wondering if I would find anything that was.  Just as I was about to give up and leave I noticed a back wall with shoes.  So I ended up with these snake print sandals with lots of shiny silver buckles, which actually I think are pretty cute and only cost me $5 with my $10 off coupon.

Exercise -- an excuse to shop!

So after almost a week away from "the spa" (due to the dog bite) I went back on Sunday. Any weight I had lost that previous week I had managed to gain back. Not that it was any surprise. On the bright side, my neck and back still feel great from swimming.

I swam enough laps last night that my arms are actually a little sore. I am going to see if I can lose those few pounds again this week.

Something I discovered now that I am "working out" -- sports bras are wonderful! Much more comfortable than most regular bras. I have been wearing them everywhere lately. I didn't know that some come with actual cups. Seriously, I love them!

Of course, I had to buy more yoga clothes and I have ordered a couple more swimsuits. Now I just need some new shoes. I am not a big fan of athletic shoes, but surely I can find some that I like. After all, they are shoes and I have never had a problem finding shoes that I want to buy. :-)

Shoe Update!

As I was surfing through the Shoes.com site, Jim asked me why was I looking at a shoe site? I just looked at him. After a pause, I said, "Um, well, because it's shoes!" He said "Makes sense." A few moments later, and I found these:

and exclaimed something like "ohmygodthosearethemostbeautifulshoesIwantthem" and so my darling husband said he'd buy them for me for an early Christmas/Hanukkah whatever present, handed me his credit card, and now they're on their way! Thank you sweetie!

Ah, Shoes!

A co-worker had these on the other day, and all of us stopped her and drooled over them for what seemed like hours. We couldn't help ourselves. I mean, there they were . . . what could we do?

She said she bought them at Macy's; I found them on-line at Shoes.com for the same price, they weren't any cheaper. $99.00, which isn't cheap, but good shoes that feel good and don't hurt your feet are worth every penny.

I love these shoes! I MUST have them. I have no idea if I'll be able to walk in them, but I can try. She said they were very comfortable, extremely so. Have to be, she's a teacher and on her feet all day.

Boots Again

So after saying publicly that I don't like or buy plastic shoes, I am forced to eat my words. My new Newport News catalog came today and I just couldn't resist those shiny black patent leather boots with gold buttons and heel trim and I just ordered them via Amazon.

Fall Shopping Obsession

Oh sure, I love checking out the new Fall clothes. I love cozy sweaters and new jeans, but my number 1 Fall shopping obsession is BOOTS!

OMG! I love boots!

I wear boots all through Fall and Winter. I have just about any style or color that you could imagine.

A man would never understand the need for all those boots, but there is a need, at least somewhat. There are different categories along with subcategories for boots and shoes in general.

First there are the every day boots. Last year I switched mostly between two pairs, the Uggs at the top of this post and my Sugar boots below.

I also have special boots that I would wear out somewhere special, but not anywhere that I knew I was going to have to do much walking. Like these --

Then there are the nice boots that I can wear out somewhere special that I might have to do some walking in. Those are normally knee high leather boots (flats, of course) and I always like ones that have some sort of decoration like buckles, buttons or even rhinestones.

Then there are other categories like snow boots, rain boots and so on. I even have "dress" snow boots. :-)

I also have a pair of hand tooled leather cowboy boots, with 2 inch heels that I have had at least 5 years and never worn. They are beautiful boots and I couldn't resist the price, they were marked down from $250 to around $80, but they are totally uncomfortable even for just sitting. Yet, I can't bear to get rid of them.

Yes, I know what PETA people think about leather shoes and yet as long as people continue to eat meat (including myself) I refuse to stop wearing leather. I HATE plastic shoes. They do not conform to your feet or stretch like leather and they make your feet smell horrible. I know that maybe that is a contradiction given my love of animals, but so be it.

Summer Shoes

During the hot days I wear sandals. Mostly Betula, by Birkenstock. Yes, Birkenstocks are ugly, but they are also the most comfortable shoes on earth. The Betulas are cuter than the regular Birkies, normally having rhinestones and other decorative touches. Below is a pair I actually own, only mine are orange. I also have "going out" sandals which are not as comfortable, but a lot prettier.

Like Regan Lee I can't stand what I deem as athletic shoes. Those would be Nike or something like that. They are always too hot for me, then my feet swell making them feel a size too small. I don't find them comfortable at all.

However, to me athletic shoes don't include what I call skate shoes or sneakers. Canvas shoes in other words. I used to really love Vans, but this summer I have been wearing Rocket Dog in the cool evenings or out for a walk.

I like canvas shoes because they always come in a variety of colors and patterns. They aren't so heavy and hot either. I wear them most of the spring, fall and the warmer days in the winter. This summer my favorites are my black with silver metallic skulls and red tartan slip-on Rocket Dog shoes.
