I saw a story recently that they were being sued by someone who had worn those shoes and was claiming they caused some sort of leg injury - wish I could remember exactly what.
I think if children were actually made to go outside and play, no matter the type of shoes they were wearing, they would stay at whatever their healthy weight is. I am not at all athletic, but as a child I was always outside riding my bike, roller skating and whatever. I would have never been allowed to stay inside in front of the TV all day - not that I wanted to.
